Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia plans to hold a series of promotional activities in Argentina next November 11-21, Indonesia`s Ambassador to Argentina Nurmala Kartini Sjahrir said here on Friday.

"The promotional activities is held in accordance with the commemoration of 55th year of Indonesia-Argentina diplomatic relation," she said.

Nurmala said the November activity would include Indonesian food festival, exhibition of traditional fabric collection of the First lady Ani Yudhoyono, Indonesian product exhibition attended by small scale industry and handicraft makers, tourism exhibition, fashion show by Indonesian designer Oscar Lawalata and tango dance performance by Indonesian tango lovers community.

The ambassador said Indonesia and Argentina had enjoyed a fruitful relation during the past 55 years with trade volume reaching US$1.2 billion last 2010. Indonesia mainly exports rubber, textile, footwear and furniture to Argentina while the latter exports wheat, soya bean and pipes to Indonesia.

"The November promotional activity is an effort from Indonesia to increase the trade volume and introduce Indonesian products more to the Argentinians," she said.

Meanwhile, designer Oscar Lawalata stated he would showcase 30 pieces of batik clothes in the upcoming fashion show in Buenos Aires. "The batik dress and clothes are adjusted to the trend in Argentina. According to my research, most Argentinian women like to wear colorful sexy-cut dress," he said.

Ratih Soekosasie, a representative from Indonesian tango lovers community, said she would dance using kebaya (Indonesian traditional clothing) in the November 2011 activity. "Me and my partner will dance accompanied with Indonesian music from the early struggle for independence era but with tango beat arrangement," she said.
