Bogor, West Java (ANTARA News) - The chief of the ruling Democrat Party, Anas Urbaningrum, called on all cadres here on Saturday to remain solid and united.

"Democrat Party cadres must be able to prove that rumors about divisions in the party are mere public perception," he said in his speech at the opening the party`s national coordination meeting.

He said Democrat Party cadres must conduct internal consolidation to prove that the party is a big, modern and solid party.

In order to make the Democrat Party become a big and modern party, he said, cadres must keep united and must not allow themselves to be influenced by negative rumors spreading outside.

He said this was part of the three themes for the meeting now namely consolidation, improvement and performance.

Anas admitted the Democrat Party did not only have strength but also weakness.

"We are aware the Democrat Party also has shortages and weaknesses so that improvement is needed," he said.

Based on the understanding he called on all cadres to conduct introspection and correction so that in the future the party could present itself as expected by the people.

Correction and improvement must be carried out thoroughly to prove that the party, which was born in the reform era, is a big party, the winner of the 2009 general elections.

As it was founded by the President he said cadres also must continue to work hard for the progress of the nation.

Anas also called on the cadres to show accountability. He said the party must be able to give hopes to the people and maintain public trust in it.

"The only way to do it is cadres must show their best performance and work," he said.
