"Since our start from zero two years ago when we sold nothing, I hope this year our sales will be close to 1000 units. It can be not that many, but at least it will be close to that figure," said Chrysler`s Asia Pacific Operations CEO, John Kett, here on Saturday.
He made the remarks on the sidelines of Indonesia International Motor Show (IIMS) 2011.
Sales of Chrysler Group in Indonesia in the first three months, according to him, were quite good because the firm managed to sell 100 units per month. "Sales in June, if I am not mistaken, reached 80 to 90 units", he said.
For a new trade mark car entering the automotive market in Indonesia and starting from scratch since June 2010, he said sales growth is quite rapid with an average sale of 100 units per month.
"We`ll try to start slowly from 100 units to 150 units and 200 units. Then we begin to consider which specific type that has to be chosen as special product for Indonesia. We hope to get the inspiration soon," he said.
Chrysler, according to John, will utilize the momentum to really understand the automotive market in Indonesia before taking a decision on which specific segment we are going to target.
"We`ll decide later whether we are going to a specific segment with more aggressive steps or just for entrepreneurial purposes," he said.
