"We will continue to ask for help from Interpol. We are banking on Interpol`s role in this respect as it is only them who can help us," he said.
He said the Indonesian police needed help from the police of other countries and therefore international coordination was needed.
He said the Indonesian police have agreements with other countries through Interpol which is based in Paris, France.
"The police already know the whereabouts of Nazaruddin but it will take time and good coordination with the local police to arrest him," he said.
Nazaruddin has been named a suspect in a corruption case related to a SEA Games Athletes Village project in Palembang, Sumatra, and left for Singapore a day before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the ministry of justice to issue a travel ban for him.
The Indonesian police have issued a red notice in its efforts to arrest the former treasurer of the ruling Democrat Party.
Nazaruddin has also been reported by the party`s chief Anas Urbaningrum on July 5 for defamation and slander.***3***
