"Who is trusted will be able to represent the people easily in a democracy," he said in his speech at the declaration of Nasdem Party here on Tuesday.
Jusuf Kalla gave speech after the declaration of the new political party, which was attended by several national figures such as the chief of the advisory board of the Indonesia Democratic Party Struggle (PDIP), Taufik Kiemas, the chief of the Golkar Party`s Advisory Board, Akbar Tanjung and the ruling Democrat Party`s advisory board member Achmad Mubarok.
Kalla said political parties almost had no difference now in terms of ideology or program.
Parties with Islamic ideology have now moved to be open parties while the nationalist-based parties have started including religious elements in them, he said.
In terms of program parties have also "sold" similar programs namely about public welfare.
"What is different is the degree of the public trust in them," he said.
