Jaka said the office would accommodate traffic of Lebaran holiday travelers from and to Klaten district in four alternative roads in an effort to reduce traffic congestion.
"We have prepared the alternative roads and we will coordinate it with public works department," Jaka said.
He said the holiday travelers from Semarang to Klaten could take Boyolali-Jatinom route, while from Semarang to Sukoharjo they could take Jatinom-Penggung-Pedan-Karangdowo route.
"And for the travelers from Solo to Gunungkidul in Yogyakarta by Klaten, they can go through Pedan-Cawas or Pedan-Mlese," Jaka said, adding that local transportation office also provided alternative roads for the travelers from Yogyakarta to Semarang by Klaten and Boyolali.
He said the route starts from Prambanan to Manisrenggo-Karangnongko-Jatinom-Tulung and then on to Boyolali.
"Especially for the route through Manisrenggo, we will coordinate it with the public works department because parts of the road are broken and have to be repaired," Jaka said.
The other alternative road, according to him, was from Yogyakarta to Sukoharjo through Tegal Mas-Srowot-Wedi or Tegal Mas-Srowot-Gantiwarno.
Besides preparing the four alternative roads, the transportation office also focused its attention to a number of spots namely Tegalgondo and Kraguman which were frequently clogged with flea markets.
"Flea markets along roadways are a regular issue and a common cause of traffic jams and therefore we have to coordinate it with Klaten resort police," Jaka said.
Meanwhile, chief of public works office in Klaten, Tajudin Akbar said his party was working hard to have road repair work completed in time for the holiday travelers.
"For west ring road we ensure that it will be ready in time but for the rest we have to speed up the completion," Tajudin said.
