Bandung, West Java (ANTARA News) - A number of students from various universities in Indonesia will participate in the Global Model United Nations 2011 (GMUN-2011) in Incheon, South Korea, from August 9-14, a participant said here on Tuesday.

Rizka Mantini, a participant from Padjadjaran University (Unpar), said the students were from among others the University of Indonesia (UI), University of Diponegoro (Undip), Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), and Hassanudin University (Unhas).

"We are going to depart on Tuesday night," Rizka Mantini said, adding that each of the universities this year was represented by different number of students.

Rizka said this year Unpad will send 13 students to participate in the GMUN-2011 in South Korea.

She said the Global Model United Nations was an international forum, organized by the United Nations and participated in by the students from all UN member countries.

"In that forum we will simulate the UN General Assembly as if we were the delegation of UN member countries," said Rizka who has just graduated from Unpad`s faculty of law.

She said each delegation from each participating country would present certain topic about certain country.

"I am going to present a topic on Trinidad/Tobago, and the rest of my friends will present different topics about different countries," Rizka said.

She added that the topics concerning a particular countries were decided by the GMUN organizing committee and therefore the participants should make well preparation.

"To prepare our presentation we have to make a number of researches. For me, I will present a topic on Trinidad/Tobago and therefore I have to understand all aspects about the country," Rizka said.

Besides, she said they should also have a knowledge about the latest international issues which were being discussed.

She added that through the simulation the participant would know and acquire experiences about how to engage in diplomacy, negotiation, and dealing with other countries.
