Nazaruddin from Colombia, Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto said.
"The President issued an instruction to me yesterday a joint team must leave as soon as possible," he said at the Presidential Office in Jakarta on Tuesday prior to a meeting on a presidential speech which President Yudhoyono will deliver on August 16, 2011.
He said the Indonesian police and the relevant government institutions have already made a plan on bringing Nazaruddin home to Indonesia, while adding that he had yet received a report on the time and technical matters on bringing the fugitive graft suspect home.
Djoko also said that Nazaruddin`s safety will be secured. The Indonesian government has also coordinated with the Colombian authorities with regard to the safety of Nazaruddin who had been charged with bribery of the construction of the SEA Games athlete`s village.
"This is quite understood by the Colombian police authorities who will carry out their tasks well" Djoko said.
In the meantime, Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said that the President`s instruction to take care of Nazaruddin`s safety is a natural thing because he has made many controversial statements involving several people.
"It is only natural, because the person we had been looking for also involved Interpol and many people are interested in what Nazarudin will have to say," Julian said.
Mohammad Nazaruddin was arrested in Cartagena, Colombia. He had been using a fake identity and passport in the name of M Sjahruddin for as long as he was in South American country.
The Indonesian embassy in Bogota planned to deport Nazaruddin this week.
Embassy staff member I Made Subagia when contacted from Jakarta on Monday night said that under the law of Colombia, he was given only two working days to produce a diplomatic note for Nazaruddin`s deportation.
"So, since he (Nazaruddin) was taken into police custody on Monday, we have only two days (until Wednesday) to produce the diplomatic note," he said.
Therefore, he said, he is now working fast in view of the limited time until Wednesday to produce the diplomatic note.
According to past experience, Subagia said, he was able to produce a diplomatic note in two working days.
Made added that he is constantly coordinating and cooperating with the Foreign Ministry to deport Nazaruddin.
"Right now we are waiting for a team from Jakarta," he said.(*)
