Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia is now waiting for the completion of the process of corruption suspect Nazaruddin`s handover from Colombian immigration authorities to an Indonesian government team that will take him home, Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said.

"According to the latest information we have, the Colombian Attorney General`s Office and Foreign Ministry are now in the process of transferring Nazaruddin to immigration authorities and this process is happening smoothly," Marty said here on Thursday.

He said the next stage of the process was the transfer of Nazarudin from the Colombian immigration authorities to the Indonesian government, represented by the Indonesian Embassy in Bogota.

Marty said the Indonesian embassy in Colombia was preparing the technical aspects for the sending back home of Nazaruddin, the former treasurer of the ruling Democrat Party (PD).

"Intended by the ambassador as technical aspects included preparations for the transportation means and dispatch of the graft suspect based on plan," he said.

The foreign minister however declined to mention the exact date of the return of Nazaruddin.

Nazaruddin, who is also member of Commission VII energy, mineral resources, research and technology affairs of the DPR, is a graft suspect linked to the construction of a SEA Games athlete house in Palembang, South Sumatra.

He fled to Singapore a day before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the ministry of justice and human rights to issue a travel ban for him on May 24.

He had been to several countries before he was caught with his wife and several other people at 2 am local time in Cartagena, Colombia, on Monday.(*)
