Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Police have set up a team to hunt graft suspect Nazaruddin`s wife, Neneng Sri Wahyuni, who is also wanted for alleged involvement in a corruption case.

"Every time a red notice is issued, a team will be set up to follow it up," the head of the National Police`s public relations division, Inspector General Anton Bachrul Alam. said here on Tuesday.

The Indonesian police had already issued a red notice in their efforts to arrest Neneng Sri Wahyuni who is now believed to be living abroad.

Anton said the hunting team always kept coordinating with the National Police Headquarters about its latest position.

Neneng was named a suspect in an alleged corruption case linked to a solar power project of the ministry of manpower and transmigration.

Her husband, Nazaruddin, the former treasurer of the Democrat Party, meanwhile was arrested in Cartagena, Colombia, recently after fleeing abroad for more than two months and being named suspect in a corruption case linked to a SEA Games athletes village project in Palembang.

His case has drawn public attention after Nazaruddin accused some party elite members of being also involved in his case.

Nazaruddin is now being held at the Mobile Brigade Headquarters detention center.

After being questioned by the Corrutpion Eradication Commission (KPK) recently Nazaruddin confessed he was guilty and expressed readiness to be sentenced for years in exchange for his wife and children`s safety.

He had sent a letter to President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono for that which the President had replied that he would not intervene in his case and had asked him to submit to the judicial process.

With regard to his wife`s safety the President said security authorities always assure the security of citizens but it does not mean that someone involved in a crime would be protected.(*)
