"He will be detained at Brimob headquarter in Depok," he said adding that KPK basically entrusted Nazaruddin to the police because KPK does not have a detention center of its own.
So, with regard to his monitoring he is entrusted to the police, he said.
Nazaruddin is a corruption suspect wanted by KPK. The former treasurer of the ruling Democrat Party has drawn attention after he unveiled that some party elite members had also been involved in his case making him to be under public spotlight and his security becomes very important.
When asked on his security at Mako Brimob Johan said the place was chosen because it was considered the safest place.
"It has to do with the President`s order (to assure Nazaruddin`s safety) and therefore it is the responsibility of the police. What has to be monitored is whether there will be manipulation or not. Everybody can check and so can journalists. Our concern is the suspect is safe," he said.
Nazaruddin arrived here on Saturday from Bogota, Colombia where he was caught on Monday, after fleeing the country since May 23 or day before a travel ban was issued.
He has been named suspect of a corruption case linked to the SEA Games athlete building project in Palembang.(*)
