"Nazaruddin*s arrest the result of collective work of the police, KPK, foreign ministry and ministry of law and human rights," Busyro told a press conference here on Saturday night.
In the meantime, Police Chief Investigator Isp. Gen. Sutarman said that it was impossible for the team to arrest Nazaruddin without the close cooperation with the Interpol in Colombia.
For the arrest of Nazaruddin, who is also a member of the House of Represntatives (DPR), the Indonesian government sent a joint team composed of personnel from the police, KPK, foreign ministry and law and human rights ministry.
"We directed him to Colombia so that our team in Dominica could coordinate with the Colombian Interpol to arrest him," he said.
He said that it happened by chance that the suspect was using a passport belonging to an other person,Syarifuddin, so that he could eventually be deported.
Nazaruddin together with the joint team of investigators left Bogota, Colombia, at 6 a.m Western Indonesian time (WIB) on Friday and arrived in Indonesia at 8.30 pm on Saturday (Aug. 13, 2011).
Nazaruddin, who is also a member of the House of Representatives (DPR)`s Commission VII (energy, mineral resources, research and technology affairs) is a graft suspect linked to the construction of a SEA Games athlete`s village in Palembang, South Sumatra.
He fled to Singapore a day before the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) asked the ministry of justice and human rights to issue a travel ban on him on May 23.
He had been to several countries before he was caught at 2 am local time in Cartagena, Colombia, on Monday.(*)
