"The Head of State`s order is clear. The law enforcers should obey it," the House Speaker said on Monday. He said that the safety here meant not only safety physically but also safety psychologically and mentally.
He said that if Nazaruddin`s physical safety was protected but his mentality suffered from terror, it meant he was not protected.
Marzuki said that the law enforcers should also conduct the judicial process transparently, objectively and without discrimination.
"The House must carry out its function to control the law enforcing agencies so that they will not violate the law," he said.
In the meantime, House Deputy Speaker Pramono Anug Wibowo called on police and the KPK to process the case of Nazaruddin based on the principles of justice and without discrimination.
Nazaruddin, who is also former Democrat Party (PD) treasurer and a member of the House of Representatives (DPR)`s Commission VII (energy, mineral resources, research and technology affairs) is a graft suspect linked to the construction of a SEA Games athlete`s village in Palembang, South Sumatra.(*)
