President Yudhoyono in the company of First Lady Any Yudhoyono was welcomed by teachers, students and local officials upon arrival at the school.
On the occasion, he called on the school administration to pay attention to cleanliness. He said students would feel comfortable if schools are clean although damages are found in buildings.
President Yudhoyono said the government was concerned over damages in school buildings and in view of that he would soon produce a presidential instruction for the repair of public elementary and junior high school buildings in the country.
School principal Sulastri said SDN Wanareja 01 was established in 1904 on a 802 square meter plot of land and now has 209 students.
Some parts of the building which was made of bamboo still remain neat and clean. Damages are found in three classrooms and a library.
