There were no passengers on board but only its pilot, Dave Coots (Australia), and copilot, Thomas Munk, (Slovakia).Jayapura, Papua (ANTARA News) - A passenger plane of Susi Air crashed in a mountainous area in Papua on Friday after it lost contact with the air traffic control tower in Wamena, Jayawijaya district, informed sources said.
The Cessna 108 B Grand Caravan departed from Wamena at 12.20 local time for Kenyam, Nduga district, Papua. There were no passengers on board but only its pilot, Dave Coots (Australia), and copilot, Thomas Munk, (Slovakia).
Meanwhile, officers of Helimision, a private aviation rescue organization, who had heard the news immediately conducted a search and finally found the crash site which is located near Tangma village, Yahukimo district (south of Jayawijaya district), Papua.
However, the Helimission people could not reach the crash site due to bad weather so the search was halted and to be continued on Saturday morning.
Helimision also still did not know exactly the condition of the aircraft`s crew.
Until this news was released, there has been no official information from concerned parties regarding the Caravan aircraft crash.(*)
