Right now the passengers killed in the accident had reached 19, and real cause of the impact was still unclear.Mojokerto (ANTARA News) - Nineteen passengers were killed after Sumber Kencono bus number licence W 7181 UY rammed into an Elf minibus number licence AG 7103 ML at the bypass in Balongmojo village, Puri sub-district, Mojokerto regency.
Head of Mojokerto police traffic accident unit Second Inspector Sariyanto said Monday that the fatal accident took place when Sumber Kencono was traveling from the direction of Surabaya to Jombang, while the minibus in the opposite direction.
"Right now the passengers killed in the accident had reached 19, and real cause of the impact was still unclear", he said.
He said the important thing to be done now is evacuating the victims to the nearest hospital.
"Most of the dead victims had already been brought to the Dr Wahidin Sudiro Husodo general hospital in Mojokerto, only five kilometers from the accident site," he said.
Provisional data shows that 18 dead victims are now being kept in the morgue of Dr Wahidin Sudiro Husodo hospital.
A morgue attendant said that most of the victims came from Nganjuk regency.
They include Zaenal of Ngepas sub-district, Nganjuk regency, Sairan of Semanding hamlet, Bajuran village, Loceret sub-district, Nganjuk regency, Sugito of Klogen hamlet, Ngepos sub-district, Nganjuk regency, Wulan Purnomo of Rejoso village, Ngetos sub-district, Nganjuk regency, Slamet of Kali Asin hamlet, Sambung Rejo village, Gondang sub-district, Bojonegoro, and some others still unidentified.
"Right now we are still coordinating with the relevant police authorities with regard to the fatal accident," he said.(*)
