Denpasar (ANTARA News) - Police in Bali are tightening security in a number of locations in Kuta and Jimbaran ahead of the anniversary of the second Bali terrorist bombings on Saturday.

The director of vital objects security of the Bali Regional Police Command, Senior Commissioner Adhi S Putra, said here on Friday the security tightening was being done among others by stationing officers at the locations of the bombings in 2002 and 2005.

He said among the objects to be given special attention were the Ground Zero on Jalan Legian in Kuta as well as Kuta Square and Muaya Jimbaran Coast which was the location of the bombing on October 1, 2005.

Adhi said police predicted a lot of people from various countries would gather at the locations to commemorate the incident that claimed the lives of hundreds of people including tourists from many countries.

"Special security measures will be taken as usually many people from various countries would come to commemorate the second bombings tomorrow or the first bombings on October 12," he said.

He said the police would also conduct patrols at hotels to beef up hotel security.

In an effort to increase security on the tourist island he said the regional police plan to install CCTVs in two vital objects with which the National Police Headquarters could also monitor situation there. (*)
