The meeting was led by Coordinating Minister for Political, Law and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto and attended by among others Foreign Affairs Minister Marty Natalegawa, Defense Minister Purnomo Yusgiantoro and also National Defense Forces (TNI) Commander Admiral Agus Suhartono.
Djoko said the meeting was a routine one to discuss every development connected with the Indonesia-Malaysia border.
He said the limited meeting this time discussed preparations for a consultative meeting between Indonesian and Malaysian leaders.
"The meeting will take place at the end of this month. Meetings with Malaysia are held regularly," he said.
With regard to the Indonesia-Malaysia border problem in Tanjung Datu and Camar Wulan in West Kalimantan, Djoko said the meeting did not specifically discuss the matter, adding the situation there was in a status quo.
The defense ministry had earlier stated the borders in the Tanjung Datu and Camar Wulan regions were among several outstanding boundary problems (OBPs) still under discussion between Indonesia and Malaysia.
The ministry spokesman, Hartind Asrin, said there were five OBPs in the western sector of Borneo where Indonesia`s West Kalimantan adjoined Malaysia`s Sarawak , namely Batu Aum, Sungai Buan, Gunung Raya, D.400 and Tanjung Datu.
In Borneo`s eastern sector where Indonesia`s East Kalimantan shares a border with Malasyia`s Sabah , the OBPs were Sebatik Island, Sinapad river, Semantipal river, B2700-B3100 and C500-C600.
"The population involved in the Tanjung Datu OBP consists of the residents Temajuk village totalling 493 families (1883 people). The village is 4750 square kilometer wide and consists of Camar Wulan and Maludin hamlets," Hartind said.
Harting said the Tanjung Datu OBP was still being discussed by the JIM (Joint Indonesia-Malaysia Boundary Committee on the Demarcation and Survey of International Boundaries) by an Indonesian delegation led by the secretary general of the ministry of home affairs with Malaysia.
JIM is an annual meeting and this year it will be held in Indonesia at the end of this year.
"Malaysia has so far held the watershed boundaries as its reference while Indonesia adheres to 1891 and 1928 treaties between the Netherlands and Britain," Hartind said.
"The Tanjung Datu OBP is still under discussion by Indonesia and Malaysia," Hartind said.
The House of Representatives Commission I recently said it had found evidence that Malaysia had grabbed wide tracts of Indonesian territory in West Kalimantan.
"In Camar Bulan we lost 1,400 hectares of land and in Tanjung Datu 80,000 square meters of coastal land," Commission deputy chairman TB Hasanudin said.
