Mataram, West Nusa Tenggara (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has suggested that the Mandalika tourism project be renamed "Bali-Lombok Tourism Development" although it was being implemented by PT Bali Tourism Development Corporation (BTDC).

"I suggest that its name be changed to `Bali Lombok Tourism Development` because it is located in Lombok," the head of state said during a groundbreaking ceremony for the Mandalika Tourism Resort in Central Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara (NTB) Province, on Friday.

It would be confusing if it was called BTDC whereas it was located in Lombok, accoridng to the president.

However, the term "development" did not need to change, he said.

The Mandalika tourist resort is to be developed on an area measuring 1,175 hectares and will consist of amusement parks, a meeting hall, aquatic and nature tourism facilities, hotels, a golf course, and FI1 circuit.

The new resort is expected to attract at least one million people annually over the next 5-10 years.

After dedicating the construction of the Mandalika tourist resort, President Yudhoyono and his entourage left NTB for Bali Province.

The president will be in Bali for a four-day working visit for the 7th National Meeting of All Indonesia District Governments Association (APKASI).

The presidential entourage included First Lady Ani Yudhoyono, r NTB Governor Zainul Madji, Coordinating Minister for Economic Affairs Hatta Rajasa, Coordinating Minister for People`s Welfare Agung Laksono, State-owned Enterprises Minister (BUMN) Dahlan Iskan, and Tourism and Creative Economic Minister Mari E Pangestu.
