"Indonesia will remain consistent in representing the interests of developing countries. The G20 summit is to discuss economic problems in developed countries. Of course, those problems are important but there are other issues affecting developing countries that also need to be taken up," President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono said at Halim Perdanakusuma airport here Monday shortly before leaving for France.
Ignoring the interests of developing countries would have a bad impact on the global economy, he said.
Being the current chair of ASEAN (Association of South East Asian Nations), Indonesia would also voice the views of the 10-member regional grouping at the G-20 meeting, Yudhoyono said.
But he stressed there was also no denying that G-20 countries urgently needed to find a solution to the crises in the United States and Europe.
"I am sure that the G-20 leaders will talk a lot about the economic problems of the US and Europe, and how to forge international unity to prevent those crises from affecting the global economy," he said.
According to the President, the G-20 participants would also discuss efforts to stabilize the world economy and ways to stimulate world economic growth.
