Oscar Ramiro Ortega-Hernandez was arrested shortly after noon on Wednesday near Indiana, Pennsylvania, and is now in the custody of the Pennsylvania State Police, CNN quoted the U.S. Secret Service as saying.
The service said in a statement earlier Wednesday that two bullets were found at the White House Tuesday morning. One bullet struck an exterior window of the White House and was stopped by ballistic glass, the other was found on the exterior of the White House.
The service said it`s investigating whether the bullets had anything to do with the shooting incident near the White House last Friday, yet no conclusion has been reached at this point.
The 21-year-old suspect is from Idaho Falls, Idaho, and has a record of arrests in Idaho, Utah and Texas, according to several other reports.
Gunshots were heard Friday night near the White House. Witnesses said they saw two speeding cars racing on the Constitution Avenue, not far from the White House, with bullets shot from the cars at each other.
U.S. Park Police and the Secret Service launched investigation into the incident and recovered an abandoned vehicle and an assault rifle. Police then locked Ortega as the suspect as he is the registered owner of the rifle.(*)
