"The Population Coalition`s working meeting is expected to have an impact on family`s resilience and strengthen population coalition network," the minister said.
He said that the Population Coalition had so far cooperated with various partners to play an active role in various population researches that could be used in development planning and polices in Indonesia.
Carrying the theme " Indonesian families amid the World`s Seven Billion Population," the working meeting was expected to provide contribution to the grand design of Indonesian population.
Agung said the meeting which was attended by about 300 participants from various population coalitions in various parts of the country, including those from relevant agencies, population experts, academics and activists, was expected to produce new ideas and inputs for development in the population sector.
He said that on October 31, 2011, the world and Indonesia celebrated the birth of the seven billionth baby.
In the meantime, Head of the National Population and Family Planning Board Sugiri Syarief said on the occasion that about 10 thousand babies were born in Indonesia every day and Indonesia`s population was expected to increase by 3.5 million annually.(*)
