"We strongly support the acceleration of democratization processes in developing countries including Indonesia," US Deputy Trade Minister Francisco J Sanchez said here on Thursday.
Speaking on the sidelines of the 4th Bali Democracy Forum in Nusa Dua, Sanchez said the forum was a good opportunity for the participating countries to exchange views to create and develop democratic systems in their respective countries.
"The delegations participating in the forum can exchange views and ideas on ways democracy is applied in their respective countries," he said.
Sanchez said the US delegation to the forum would also make a presentation on the implementation of democracy in the US.
"We have implemented the democratic system for at least 250 years but we are continuing to improve it," Sanchez said in the company of US Ambassador to Indonesia Scot Marciel.
Beside exchanging views on democracy, he said, the US delegation would also promote trade and economic values among the forum`s participants.
"We hope fair democratic relations will have a positive impact on the world`s economic values, and therefore we hope the application of democracy will benefit more and more people in the world," Sanchez said.
Sanchez said he would also seek to establish partnerships with Indonesian businessmen and government in an effort to encourage investment in the fields of energy, environment, small and medium businesses, and information technology.
