Jakarta (ANTARA News) - The police have so far named 37 suspects in connection with money laundering, banking and general crimes committed in relation with the Bank Century bailout, a spokesman said.

"The number of cases being handled is 11 from 11 police reports that have been put into 36 dossiers," head of the National Police`s Public Relations division, Inspector General Saud Usman Nasution, said here on Friday.

Out of the 36 dossiers 22 had been processed and settled with permanent rulings while 14 others were still under process of sentencing, six under process in court and two others awaiting a process in court, he said.

"Of the 37 suspects, 24 are bank employees while 11 others come from outside the bank. Six suspects meanwhile are still wanted. Fourteen dossiers are now still being processed but eight of them have been sent back to the prosecutor`s office after being completed," he said.

President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono meanwhile had decided to refer the results of the forensic audit on the Rp6.7 trillion Banl Century bailout by the State Audit Board (BPK) to legal processes and mechanisms.

Presidential spokesman Julian Aldrin Pasha said here on Tuesday (Dec 27) all parties were advised to trust the BPK as the state institution that conducted the forensic audit.

"The President`s stance on the Bank Century case is clear enough. He leaves it fully to the legal process and mechanism," he said.

Julian hoped the public would not harbor prejudices in connection with the fact that the Corruption Eradication Commission (KPK) had not yet found indications of corruption in the Bank Century case so far.

He declined to comment much regarding a bank account believed to belong to the younger brother of First Lady Any Yudhoyono mentioned in the BPK audit results.

He only said having an account in a problematic bank does not automatically mean the owner of the account had a problem.

"A bank customer cannot automatically be considered as having a problem when he has an account in a bank facing bankruptcy or problems," he said.(*)
