"The government through the Migrant Workers Protection Task Force must be able to save other citizens facing the death sentences," Prof Dr Badaruddin, a sociologist from North Sumatra University said here on Monday.
He said the government was responsible for the safety of its citizens, including migrant workers overseas.
The government had recently saved three female migrant workers from execution in Saudi Arabia. They were Bayanah
binti Banhawi (29), Jamilah binti Abidin Rofi`i alias Juariyah Binti Idin Ropi`i, and Neneng Sunengsih binti Mamih (34).
The professor appreciated the government`s hard work that successfully led to the release of the three workers.
He reminded the nation`s migrant workers overseas to obey the prevailing regulations, not to violate the laws and not to disgrace the Indonesian nation.
The three migrant workers escaped execution by beheading after the families of the persons they had allegedly killed had forgiven them or the murder accusations could not be proven.
A team of the Migrant Workers Protection Task Force led by the Task Force`s chairman, Maftuh Basyuni, and former president BJ Habibie, were recently in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia, with a special mission to save troubled migrant workers, including Tuti Tursilawasi, a migrant worker from West Java Province accused of killing her employer.
