Cairo (ANTARA News) - Pan Africa Parliament (PAP) President Moussa Idriss Ndele has confirmed a plan to attend the 7th conference of the Parliamentary Union of the Organization of Islamic Conference (PUIC) Member States to be held in Palembang, South Sumatra, on January 24-31.

At a meeting with Ndele in Addis Ababa on Tuesday, Chief of the Inter-parliamentary Cooperation Board (BKSAP) at the House of Representatives (DPR) Hidayat Nurwahid expressed gratitude to the PAP president for his confirmation to attend the conference.

"Indonesia appreciates the PAP president`s confirmation to attend the 7th PIUC conference," Hidayat was quoted by the Indonesian embassy in Addis Ababa as saying in a press release received by an Antara correspondent based in Cairo on Wednesday.

Nurwahid met Ndele on the sidelines of the 7th PAP conference held in the Ethiopian capital. The Indonesian delegation to the meeting was led by DPR chief Marzuki Alie who is also president of the ASEAN Inter Parliamentary Assembly (AIPA).

The Indonesian delegation also included Indonesian Ambassador to Ethiopia Ramli Saud, expert staff of the DPR chief M. Masad Masrur and the embassy`s minister counselor Bambang Hartoyo.

At a meeting with Ndele, Marzuki Alie expressed hope that the PAP president would attend the 33rd AIPA meeting scheduled for September 2012 in Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara province, as an observer.

"Through the meetings between inter-regional parliaments, we hope we can exchange experience among others in supervising government performance, legislation and parliament management," Marzuki said. (*)
