senior high schools in the city in a bid to curb student delinquency.
"They will not only watch schools, but also provide consultations," head of the city police community counseling department,Commissioner M Fathurahman, said here on Thursday.
He added that within the schools, the officers would coordinate their activities with teachers in charge of student counseling.
"Later, personnel from the Community Order and Security Service will also be involved in the efforts," he said.
He noted that schools in the city, and also foundations running private schools, are required to set up a joint secretariat to deal with student delinquencies that sometimes lead to criminal behavior.
Further, the head of the city`s education service, Edy Heri Suasana, said the setting up of the secretariat would be in line with the mission of the city`s regional head on character education.
However, "the plan still has yet to be discussed with representatives from schools," he said.
He added that many activities that could be carried out to overcome student delinquency, such as social services or outbound activities.
"These activities are aimed at controlling brawls and other delinquent behavior," he said.(*)
