The tremor, however, did not have the potential to trigger a tsunami, the national meteorological, climatology and geophysics office (BMKG), said.
The quake`s epicenter was located at 0.89 degrees southern latitude, 126.88 degrees eastern longitude, 132 km southwest of South Halmahera, and at a depth of 10 km below sea level.
