Makassar, South Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - Makassar in the last two months had been prone to mini-market robbery.

"In January and February 2012, at least there had been 10 cases of mini-market and household stick-ups," executive of the Civil Society Organization J Mappanganro said in Makassar Wednesday.

It is imperative for a city like Makassar which is developing into a world city, to secure and maintain peace.

One of the indicators is opening mini-markets 24 hours a day, like the operation of public minivans.

"Of the number of cases revealed by the media, the robber in one case had been caught," he said.

Security personnel have not only to stepped up security in economic activities in this area, but also road traffic.

One such case was the attack of a rowing athlete of South Sulawesi in the T-intersection of Jalan Veteran and Jalan Yos Sudarso in Makassar early in February 2012.

An Indonesian Muslim University student in Makassar had been hit by an arrow when passing Jalan Abdullah Dg Sirua, and the perpetrator was still unknown.

"This is only a homework for the police to step up its operations in securing and maintaining peace," he said.
