In addition to their personal data, they also submitted their fingerprints and eye retina data for recording.
During the e-ID card application process, the head of state was accompanied by Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi and Co-ordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto.
Yudhoyono`s son, Edhie Baskoro Yudhoyono and daughter in-law Aliya, also joined in the e-ID card application process.
Speaking on the occasion, Minister Fauzi reported that the e-ID card project had been initiated in 2010.
"In line with the mandate of the law (on Population Administration), the data verification must be completed in late 2010. In 2011, the citizen identity number process was completed, and in October-November 2011, the data recording started," he explained.
Until late 2011, the personal data of 47 million citizens in 197 districts and cities throughout Indonesia was recorded in the initial stages of the e-ID card data entry process.
In 2012, 172 million people in 300 districts and cities are expected to submit their personal data to obtain the e-ID cards.
"I have asked the state enterprise minister to accelerate the device procurement. We have set a target to record personal data of 400,000 people daily. Last year, we did it in 197 districts and cities, and this year we are targeting 300 districts and cities," the minister noted.
It took just 10 minutes for the president, the first lady, and his son and daughter-in-law to complete the data entry process.
