"A Cyber Crime team is tracing it and hopefully they will uncover it," Jakarta Metropolitan Police Command spokesman Senior Commissioner Rikwanto said, here on Thursday.
He said the police would focus on revealing its operations including finding its operator, network, intentions and when it was established.
He said the police could not yet confirm the truth about its existence as the public could also access internet services.
"Cyber operation has no territorial borders and, therefore, the public could access from anywhere," he said.
A website "hitmanindonesia.wordpress.com" recently revealed an ad offering a mercenary service.
The site introduces the ad with a statement reading "providing mercenary service."
The site also claims to provide trained and trusted professionals to meet orders and get support from personnel in the military and the police.
It also provides an e-mail account for those interested in the service. (*)
