"We arrested him when he arrived at the airport on a flight from Bangkok on Monday (March 19)," said Wijaya, a spokesman of the airport`s customs and excise control and service unit on Wednesday.
Wijaya said the methamphetamine was wrapped in tape and hidden in the hollow of a bag belonging to the accused.
If found guilty, Seong could be sentenced to death and fined a maximum of Rp 10 billion under Law No. 35/2009 on narcotics.
Earlier, the district court of Pekanbaru, Riau province, sentenced Malaysian Muhammad Adenan to life imprisonment for smuggling 1.5 kilograms of methamphetamine into the country.
The defendant, who was also a port officer in Port Klang, was also found guilty of conspiring with other defendants, Norman bin Erisman, Zulkifli, Dedy and Januar, when transporting the narcotics from Malaysia, chief judge Rosmin Lumbangaol said on Tuesday evening (March 20).(*)
