Batam, Riau Islands (ANTARA News) - The Riau Islands province (Kepri) is establishing a trauma clinic center for troubled Indonesian migrant workers (TKI) who need counseling from the ministry of social affairs.

The center will be built on a plot of land covering an area of 2.5 hectares, which the regional government of the Riau Islands province transferred to the social affairs ministry.

The land certificate was handed over by Riau Islands Governor M. Sani to Social Affairs Minister Salim Segaf Al Jufri here on Wednesday.

Al Jufri said that Riau Islands is a transit point for Indonesian migrant workers who were going overseas or returning from other countries, particularly Malaysia.

He stated that returning migrant workers were usually dealing with traumatic issues and needed counseling.

"So they should not go directly to their hometown, but we should give them counseling first to heal any mental illnesses," the minister said.
