The medium quake struck under the sea in a depth of 5 kilometers, but has no potential to cause a tsunami.Bandarlampung, Lampung (ANTARA News)- An earthquake with an intensity of 5.2 on the Richter scale struck southwest of Talaud Islands in North Sulawesi province on Tuesday at 5.21 am local time.
The medium quake struck under the sea in a depth of 5 kilometers, but has no potential to cause a tsunami, the Meteorology, Climatology and Geophysics Agency (BMKG) said in Bandar Lampung.
The epicenter of the quake lies 58 kilometers southwest of Talaud Islands, 105 kilometers northeast of Manado in North Sulawesi.
Before that, a 5.2 Richter scale quake was also reported to strike on Tuesday at 4.02 am local time with its epicenter 72 kilometers Southwest of the eastern part of Seram (Maluku).
The quake struck in a depth of 27 kilometers.
