...Whoever it may be, if they do not behave and if they violate the rules, I will send him or her out...Jakarta (ANTARA News) - House Speaker Marzuki Alie has said he will expel any legislator who breaks the rules at the plenary meeting to decide whether to implement the proposed fuel price hike on Friday.
"Tomorrow, I will preside over the meeting, flanked by deputy speakers," he said at the parliament building here on Thursday.
Marzuki was optimistic that the meeting would be orderly. When asked about possible interruptions during the meeting, he said it was normal for disruptions to occur.
However, he warned that if any member tried to disrupt the meeting, similar to when he presided over a meeting on the Century Bank case some time ago, he would order the member to leave the chamber.
"Whoever it may be, if they do not behave and if they violate the rules, I will send him or her out," he said.
Marzuki predicted that interruptions could take place during the meeting and it might be difficult to reach a compromise.
He also predicted that the decision on the fuel price hike would be made by voting. "If a vote is to be carried out, it will be an open vote because it is for a decision and not to elect a person," he noted.
Marzuki said the vote would be carried out about an article in Law Number 22 of 2011 on the 2012 budget, and not whether the fuel price will be raised.
He added that it remains the government's decision to raise the fuel price, and not the DPR's.
"The result of the vote will have a consequence that could determine whether or not the government will raise the price of subsidized fuels," he said.
Further, Deputy speaker Priyo Budi Santoso from Golkar Party said the plenary meeting on Friday would be divided into two sessions, with the first starting at 10 am and the second at 1:30 pm.
Discussions on the fuel price would be carried out in the second session, he added.Â
