"We have asked them to temporarily stop their activities," he said.
The police have not named suspects behind the vandalism at the mosque, as they continue their investigation and questioning witnesses, as well as those affected.
Before the vandalism occurred, several people came to close the mosque for the evening. After the building had been closed, a group reportedly arrived and broke into the mosque.
Due to their large number, police were unable to drive the group out before they had damaged the mosque.
Officials said windows were broken and other areas in the mosque were damaged.
The incident lasted for more than 10 minutes. Members of the group dispersed after shouting condemnations to the followers of Ahmadiyah. (*)
