Palu, Central Sulawesi (ANTARA News) - The Central Sulawesi Immigration Office eventually decided to deport Malhotra Sanjai, an Indian, who had been caught along with some other foreigners from Singapore.

"Immigration Chief Arman Andrya personally guarded the problematic Indian from Palu to Jakarta," head of the Palu Immigration Control and Action Division Amar B said on Sunday.

In the meantime, another foreigner, Wereasekera Don Ondre from Singapore has not been deported as he is still being further investigated.

In the investigation, Sanjai was proven to have violated the Indonesian Immigration Law as he had both foreign and Indonesian papers.

"The Indian also has a passport issued by the Indian immigration authorities, as well as an identity card (KTP) issued by the Palu civil population and registration office," he said.

Sanjai had been deported from his country through the Soekarno-Hatta International Airport.

The two foreigners had been caught as they were about to apply for Indonesian passports at the Palu immigration office some time ago.

They had been caught for holding suspicious papers.

And, Amar said, one of the foreigners, namely Malhotra Sinjai had almost escaped. "Fortunately a number of Indonesian immigration personnel went after him to Mutiara airport in Palu and caught him," he said, while the Singaporean, Wereasekera, who has an Indonesian name (Muhammad Ali Mulik) is now being held at the Palu immigration detention house.

If the investigation had been completed, the Singaporean will also be deported.
