Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono has asked the National Economic Committee (KEN) to issue a recommendation to maintain the nation`s economic growth.

"I have talked with KEN chairman Chairul Tanjung to issue a recommendation as part of the government`s policy to maintain the nation`s economic growth," the president said when opening a limited cabinet meeting in the economic field at the presidential office here Tuesday.

The cabinet meeting was also attended by Vice President Boediono, economic ministers, KEN members and members of the National Innovation Committee (KIN).

Yudhoyono said KEN and KIN were set up to recommend the government on a number of issues facing the nation. KEN and KIN were not policy-making agencies, he added.

After chairing the limited cabinet meeting, the head of state will lead a plenary cabinet meeting at 04.00 p.m.

Yudhoyono said the limited and plenary cabinet meetings discussed a number of issues, including draft policies in the economic field to be implemented as of May 2012.

"We will implement government policies and steps from May to the end of this year to maintain the nation`s economic growth and secure our state budget," he said.(*)
