"I set up a special team to collect complete and comprehensive information."Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Indonesia`s foreign ministry has set up a team to investigate the death case of three migrant workers in Malaysia, following allegations from the workers` families that some organs have been removed from the dead bodies.
"On Tuesday morning, I set up a special team to collect complete and comprehensive information about the deaths of the Indonesian migrant workers in Malaysia," Foreign Minister Marty Natalegawa said here on Tuesday.
He said the team, consisting of expert staff from the Directorate of Protection of Indonesian Citizens and Legal Entities, would soon be sent to Malaysia.
The ministry has contacted the family of one of the victims to express sympathy and extend help, including assistance with regard to the families` intention to demand a repeat autopsy on the victims.
"The government will also help if the families intend to ask for a repeat autopsy to confirm whether or not organs have really been removed," he said.
The head of the National Police public relations division, Inspector General Saud Usman Nasution, said the police would continue with their plan to conduct an autopsy on the victims` bodies.
The three migrant workers from East Lombok, West Nusa Tenggara, died after being shot by police in Negeri Sembilan, Malaysia, for allegedly attacking the police when approached.
The Malaysian police said they got suspicious when they saw the workers acting strangely, wearing head scarves and maskers and carrying machetes.
The Indonesian government is coordinating with all parties concerned in Negeri Sembilan through the Indonesian embassy in Kuala Lumpur.
The Malaysian ambassador in Indonesia has also expressed willingness to provide information about the cause of the workers` deaths.
"We are still collecting full information with regard to finding facts about the incident," Marty said.
