"We should not give in, but optimize our efforts."Pontianak, West Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - The West Kalimantan branch office of the state-owned electricity firm PLN is targeting to provide electricity for 70 percent of residents in the province by the end of 2012, a PLN official said.
"Up to March this year, we have covered 66.86 percent. We still need a lot of hard work to reach the target," PLN Manager for technical affairs of West Kalimantan Andreas Heru Sumaryanto said here over the weekend.
Based on the West Kalimantan PLN office, there are a number of regions in the province whose electricity coverage is still less than 60 percent.
"There are eight regions," Andreas Heru said.
The regions or districts where electricity coverage is still low are Melawi with a power coverage of 50.65 percent, Sekadau (50.81 percent), Sintang (50.89 percent), Kayong Utara (51.97) and Kapuas Hulu (51.62 percent).
The other districts are Senggau with 56.56 electricity coverage, Ketapang with 58.59 percent and Landak with 58.08 percent.
He said that there were also a number of regions which had the potentials to be covered with electricity soon. But some of them still need hard work by the PLN officials because PLN still lacked power generators for the regions.
"We should not give in, but optimize our efforts," he added.
