"We have located it but it could not as yet be collected because it was buried under plane debris," he said to newsmen here on Sunday.
He said efforts to collect the black box would be done on Monday. He said the work surely would be very difficult due to the conditions of the field and because some plane debris that are hanging on trees could fall at any time to hurt evacuation crew.
He said KNKT would also cooperate with the Russian search and rescue team in the effort. "It is hoped the black box could be taken and brought up for the investigation of the cause of the crash.
Tatang said whoever collected the black box first whether they come from the military-police joint search and rescue team, the National Search and Rescue Agency (Basarnas) team, the volunteers or the Russian SAR team must give it to the KNKT.
Tatang said efforts to evacuate the bodies of the crash victims were still ongoing and remained prioritized. (*)
