"We will make evaluation on inputs from the public."
Jakarta (ANTARA News) - State-owned gas distributor firm PGN has decided to raise the price of gas for industry by 49 percent from US$6.8 to US$10.13 per million British thermal unit (mmbtu) beginning on May 1, 2012, the PGN secretary said.

PGN Corporate Secretary Heri Yusup said here on Monday that the PGN had decided to raise the price of its gas because its purchasing price from gas contractors had also increased since April 1, 2012.

"We are still in the stage of popularizing the plan to raise the gas price to industry. We will make evaluation on inputs from the public," he said.

Heri said that based on the inputs his company had gained during the popularization process so far, a number of associations and industry consumers had agreed to the plan to increase the price on condition that gas supply would not decline but hopefully even increased.

"Our consideration why we agree the increase of price from the contractors is that there is guarantee on increasing supplies," Heri aid.

He said that at present the volume of gas supply from gas contractors had also begun to increase with an average distribution of 800 mmscfd.***2***
