WASHINGTON, May 26, 2012 (ANTARA/PRNewswire-AsiaNet) --
- Kentucky Fried Chicken Must Reject Blackmail Campaign
In a brazen attack against an American icon and job creator, Greenpeace has launched its latest blackmail campaign against Colonel Sanders and Kentucky Fried Chicken, leveling absurd accusations against the company's environmental record. Unfortunately, this is but another example of Greenpeace's smear campaign against American companies and job creators; KFC and Yum! brands must not give into the blackmail of Greenpeace.
"This egregious behavior from Greenpeace is nothing new, but it's high time that their smears were met with a serious legal response rather than the usual free publicity from the media. Actions must have consequences and public officials should investigate Greenpeace's interference in KFC's business operations. Legal action should be considered by legal authorities in Kentucky against Greenpeace for its repeated attempts to damage the reputation of KFC, interfere with private business contracts and jeopardizing tens of thousands of American jobs," said Andrew Langer, spokesman for the Consumers Alliance for Global Prosperity.
"Despite the claims coming from Greenpeace, every product used by KFC is derived from sustainable sources. KFC has already rebutted Greenpeace's allegations and state that its products do not contain Mixed Tropical Hardwood (MTH) fiber. And this is not the first time Greenpeace has been less than credible with its fiber testing claims. Greenpeace last year engaged the Integrated Paper Services (IPS) to test Indonesian fiber; IPS' CEO confirmed that it couldn't test which countries the fiber came from, nor if they were recycled."
"Moreover, KFC is taking great pains to introduce reusable containers for many of their menu items, containers which will be both consumer and environmentally friendly. Once again Greenpeace is putting its anti-consumer agenda ahead of the working families being well-served by a business that is pro-people."
In attacking KFC, Greenpeace is running a scurrilous campaign against an American company that is more fiction than fact; KFC and Yum! Brands must not cave to Greenpeace's greenmail. Greenpeace has been arrested numerous times over the past year for its guerrilla tactics.
