Jakarta (ANTARA News) - President Susilo Bambang Yudhoyono appointed Nafsiah Mboi to replace late Endang Rahayu Sedyaningsih as the new health minister on Thursday morning.

Nafsiah Mboi took oath before the United Indonesia Cabinet ministers at the State Palace.

Earlier at Bogor Palace, President Yudhoyono announced Nafsiah was the candidate for health minister until 2014.

When asked about the reason for his choice, the head of state explained: "I have seen her past experience and dedication, including her commitment to improving and maintaining public health."

The President also swore in Professor Rudi Rubiandini, of Bandung Institute of Technology (ITB), to replace late Widjajono Partowidagdo as the deputy minister of energy and mineral resources.

President Yudhoyono said Rudi Rusbiandini had the skills, knowledge, experience, and commitment to promote energy and mineral resources in Indonesia.

For the Investment Coordinating Board (BKPM) chief`s post, the President appointed Muhammad Chatib Basri to replace Gita Wiryawan, who was concurrently holding the post of trade minister.

The head of state also swore in former Attorney General Hendarman Supandji to replace Joyo Winoto as the chief of National Board of Land Affairs (BPN).

During the inauguration ceremony, President Yudhoyono was accompanied by Vice President Boediono and Madame Herawati Boediono. First Lady Ani Yudhoyono was not present because she had left for the US for medical treatment.(*)
