The epicenter of the quake which struck at 09.54 p.m. was in the Indian Ocean 115 km south of the district capital Bantul at a depth of 15 km, head of the data and information section at the Yogyakarta provincial geophysics station Toni A Wijaya said on Thursday.
The quake was not significant enough to trigger a tsunami, he said.
He said the temblor was felt by people living in Bantul and environs at II-III on the Modified Mercalli scale. (*)
