"The local fish breeding center established by the government."
Bontang, East Kalimantan (ANTARA News) - Bontang city has the potential to produce one million tons of fish per year, local Chief of Marine and Fisheries Office Aji Erlynawati said here on Friday.

"Currently the local population only produces about 6,000 to 8,000 tons per year, or less than one percent of our fishery potential," she said.

Meanwhile, Bontang city`s Chief of Fishery Product`s Business Development, Zarkasi, said the local government has implemented several programs to boost fish production in the area, including providing fishing gears to fishermen and sending fishermen to participate in internship programs on Java island.

"The local fish breeding center established by the government also continuously develops prawn and grouper seeds which will be sold to the fishermen at cheap prices," Zarkasi said.
