Sydney (ANTARA News) - The Australian city of Brisbane has been selected to host the G20 summit in 2014 ahead of Sydney and Melbourne, Treasurer Wayne Swan said Wednesday.

Prime Minister Julia Gillard announced last year that Australia had been picked as host nation and Swan said the Queensland capital would hold the summit of the leaders of the world`s 20 largest economies.

"Brisbane will host the G20 summit in 2014," he told state broadcaster ABC.

"I think Brisbane in particular is a snapshot of our economy more broadly, and certainly in terms of Brisbane and Queensland the logistics are excellent," he added.

The event is expected to bring about 4,000 delegates and 3,000 media to the city.
