Jakarta (ANTARA News) - Vice President Boediono has urged all parties, including the government, to focus on alternative and renewable sources of energy for the sake of future generations.

"All of us, starting from the President, vice president, and all ministers should fully support the development of new and renewable energy," Boediono said in his speech to open the New and Renewable Energy Exhibition and Conference at the Jakarta Convention Centre here on Tuesday.

Also present at the conference were Energy and Mineral Resources Minister Jero Wacik and Forestry Minister Zulkifli Hasan.

According to the vice president, the efforts to support the development of new and renewable sources of energy should be made not only by the government, but also by people from all walks of life.

He said Indonesia was rich in natural and mineral resources, so there was no excuse for its people to not develop new and renewable sources of energy.

Boediono also urged all Indonesians to "leave a legacy of energy for future generations".

"Our land is blessed with abundant sources of energy that can be developed for our next generation," he said.
