Bandung (ANTARA News) - Popular Indonesian singer Nazriel Ilham, well-known as Ariel Peter Pan, was released from Kebonwaru Detention Centre, Bandung, on Monday morning.

His fans screamed hysterically as an MVP car approached the detention centre`s gate. Along with journalists and photographers, they moved closer to the car as it came out.

Ariel was in the car with fellow drug convict Asep Djamaludin. Both of them are now out on parole.

The Head of Kebonwaru Detention Centre Joko Pitoyo said the use of the car to release the star was "part of normal safety procedure".

"Since there is a crowd waiting outside, we don`t want any undesirable consequences," he said.

Ariel was convicted for producing pornographic videos and sentenced to three and a half years of imprisonment in January 2011. He was also fined Rp250 million (US$26,400). Ariel had been locked up since June 2010, when the investigation began.

However, on the grounds of good behaviour, he was granted parole.
