The head of state congratulated the newly appointed governor and deputy governor who won in the Aceh regional head election recently.
Yudhoyono hoped the new governor and his deputy could work hard to improve the welfare of the people of Aceh.
"The main task of the governor and deputy governor is to bring progress in Aceh, by improving the people`s welfare, political and security situation, the legal aspect, economic, etc. Everything has to be checked to make sure that it is more prosperous and equitable," he said.
As a leader, a governor should also be tough and strong in realizing the people`s mandate, he added.
In the one-hour meeting, the president was accompanied by among others Coordinating Minister for Political, Legal and Security Affairs Djoko Suyanto, Home Affairs Minister Gamawan Fauzi, Minister/State Secretary Sudi Silalahi and Cabinet Secretary Dipo Alam.
